Beauty on white by oscarps
In Greek mythology, Leda, daughter of Witness and wife of the king Tindáreo of Sparta, was one of the females seduced by Zeus.
When Leda walked by the river Eurasia, the king of the gods appeared to him, Zeus, transformed into a swan, which, pretending to be pursued by an eagle, rested on it. That same night, Leda lay with Tindáreo.
It is said that Leda then laid two eggs, of which four sons were born: Helena and Pollux (immortals, presumed sons of Zeus), and Clytemnestra and Castor (mortals, presumed sons of Tindarius). However, Pollux and Castor are considered twins, and are known as the Dioscuri.
The most widely accepted version is that, in reality, Zeus, turned into a swan, seduced Nemesis into a goose, and Nemesis laid a blue egg that was found by a shepherd and taken to Queen Leda. Another version assures that it was placed between the thighs of Leda by the god Hermes and servants the children by this one; Hence it is said that the Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux, and Helen of Troy, among others, are their respective children.
Such a perfectly posed swan. The texture of the feathers is splendid.
