You see all these minnows swimming together but you not there? Are you on the outside looking in? Want to be part of the group? Have you read my original important minnow post? If not then it’s a must read, go here to find my post but remember to come back.
Joining the Minnow Support Project will be the best thing you have even done ever since you signed up with Steemit. You will be amazed the community that you find there. I will not spoil it by telling you how good it is, instead I will show you step by step how to join the Minnow Support Project so you can discover it by yourself.
How Do I Know That I’m a Minnow?
First you have to be a minnow and meet the following criteria:
Do you have less than 500 followers and less than 5000 Steem Power?
If your answer is “yes” to both conditions then you are a minnow. Read on for instructions to learn how you too can join the Minnow Support Project.
Easy Guide to Joining the Minnow Support Project
Joining the Minnow Support Project is very easy to do. You have already taken the first step by just reading this post and the next will be easy because I know you want to part of the group too!
To join just follows these simple steps:
Step 1- Sign up with Discord on https://discord.gg/uYaqvHe
- Once you’re in, make sure you are in the PAL.net which stands for Peace, Abundance, Liberty. If not then click the PAL button (1).
- Go to the channel # registration (2) and type $register your-steemit-user-name (3) to register. This is like a knock on the door to announce your presence to the voting bots.
- Don’t worry if you are a little confused, just browse (4) the channel and see how it is done by others.
- Once you have made your presence known, you will be greeted by @minnowsupport and @banjo bots and they will tell what to do.
- All good things are not free, so donate 0.001Steem to @minnowsupport and @banjo by just following their donation instructions.
- If you don’t have the Steem don’t just leave. There is no harm in asking for help because if you don’t ask you definitely won’t get! There are many people ready to lend a helping hand.
- After you have donated come back to Discord, type $register your-steemit-user-name in the # register channel again. The bots will then let you know that have successfully registered and they will be at your upvoting call.
- But you are not yet finished……
Step 2 - Sign up with Steemvoter at https://steemvoter.com
- The Minnow Support Project helps to support you and in turn you should help to support it.
- When you have successfully registered with steemvoter you should setup your automatic voting bot to automatically vote to support @minnowsupport.
- Set the voting bot to vote for @minnowsupport (1). You can also set the bot to vote for others like @banjo if you want.
- To ensure that you do not quickly use up all your voting power, set the vote power to 50% (2). This is not set in stone so change it when you want.
- To see the magic work, complete step 3……
Step 3 – Go back to Discord
- To command the bots to upvote your post go back to Discord and find the correct channel.
- To upvote your post you need to go to the # upvote (1) channel and type in the upvote command $upvote your-postURL (2).
- Again if you are unsure what you need to do, just browse the channel (3) to see how others are doing it.
- Once you are done, @minnowsupport and @banjo will vote on your request.
- Wow! You must be thinking I can do this all day. The bots are smarter than you think, a cooling period applies so you cannot go upvoting mad.
If you want to play with more bots then the following is for you.
Step 4 - Optional Signup at https://Streemian.com
To spice thing up a little bit more, you can setup a bot to follow the @minnowsupport curation trail. What this mean is that you can automatically vote for whoever @minnowsupport is voting for.
For us minnows just follow @minnowsupport and when you graduate you can add other curation trails. To do this just sign up at https://Streemian.com.
Again this service is not free and a small donation is accepted. A donation of 0.001Steem to @streemian will get you onboard.
Be warned, to use this service you need to give up your password or private posting key. If you are worried about giving up your key then don’t sign up, the @minnowsupport bot you have already registered for will still work fine.
If you do sign-up, just follow the instructions. Once you are passed the setup phase, you select @minnowsupport to follow its curation trail.
Instant Gratification
I joined the Minnow Support Project only a few days ago and already I have received more votes than all of my posts combined since joining Steemit in May 2017. Not only that, my rewards have gone up because of the vote by @minnowsupport. I only have the Minnow Support Project to thank.
Giving Back
When @minnowsupport have voted he always leave a comment. Make sure to give back by upvoting his comment no matter how small. Without your upvote, @minnowsupport would not be able to continue his work.
In Conclusion
There is much more to the Minnow Support Project and Discord than what I have touched upon and it is something that I have yet to explore. George Carlin so eloquently stated:
It’s a big club and you ain’t in it!
However, you might not be in that club but you certainly can join this one.

I think Streemian is obligatory and steemvoter is optional.
I was of the opinion that steemvoter was obligatory and streemian optional. Now that you raised it is something worth investigating. I have joined all three anyway and whilst doing so learnt more about steemit and other bots.

Thanks for the extensive explanation! Very helpful. I tried and it works like a charm, awesome! There is only one thing though, you mention at the Streemian section to be advised that it needs your private posting key. However to register at Steemvoter they also need your private posting key..
No key is required at steemvoter. Just register email and that's it.

Head's up! You can't complete this process right now. The #Registration channel on Discord is offline, stating "Minnowsupport and Steemit are still responding TOO SLOWLY to register right now. The room will stay closed until it is working quickly and correctly. "
