Why people wont resteem your poststeemCreated with Sketch.

This morning (Australian time) I listened to an excellent conversation by @aggroed and @stellabelle. There was plenty of interesting discussion, but one topic resonated with me.

The 2 were discussing about how, especially within minnows and planktons, people have an inherited sense of entitlement, Follow for follow, vote for vote etc. But @aggroed also mentioned about resteems. He said how his resteeming impacts upon his reputation. He can't resteem a person who doesn't beleive in the system just looking to make a few extra dollars. What he resteems is a reflection upon himself.

I had an incidents back when I first started, I had set up my legendary chook raffle. I was still fairly niave and thought that I could ask for help from the other dolphins and whales and that it would be met with open arms. I made a point of telling them that I don't want their vote on the post, i wasn't trying to gain money, only exposure. This was met with mixed reaction, some were very happy to help. But 1 person (to be honest i can't remember who it was) politely told me that they wished me every success, but they just couldn't resteem me, but they were happy to give me a big upvote for the initiative.

It wasn't until today that it really sank in. It was nothing personal, but that person had no idea what I was really about, what I wanted to achieve and what my motives are.

So to all the new players out there, dont ask what the system can do to help you, dont expect others to just give away their help and support. Instead ask what you can do to help the system, what you can do to make other users life better. Build friendships, put the time into the system. Remember that you will only get out of it what you put into it.

If you're one of the few minnows left who haven't joined the Minnow Support Project, head on over to Discord and join up, it'll give you the leg up to talk to many of the other minnows and dolphins out there. Also be sure to check out your countries teams, Team Australia is the strongest by far with a very strong and active supporting community.

I agree with this, pleasing for someones upvote, resteem and including follow is like veggar begging for some coins as we can see in some streets, well i'm not being so rude comparing people into veggar but some of the people here in this community as i've seen is being like that and I've experienced / done same way recently as I have said, but later on I understand what's the purpose of this platform and how it's really works dealing business for some people or making some great/awesome content that might be interesting to them, and it's up to them if they will like it, let them decide and will heartily give their love to your post.

Now that's how you earn a resteem!

Thank you sir, I do appreciate it :)

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😜😎

yes mostly ppl ask for a "vote for vote" and "follow for follow" but less about reblogs. ppl just dont resteem as a support action but with the goal to be a co-curator and to get his/her stake at the end. sadly most of ppl here exactly for this and not with an idea to share the interesting content.

Yeah I definitely agree. When I resteem it must be something that I believe in wholeheartedly or believe that is valuable to the community.

upvoted and resteemed because it's true! you get out of the system what you put into it. and your followers are following you for a reason. i've been luckier here than i expected with getting followers because i mostly have enough time to comment and resteem before i have to do something else 😉. i haven't posted much 'original' content yet

thanks mate. Yes it takes real time to succeed in this platform.

very well pointed out @gohba.handcrafts .... thin this is the most crucial point which most of the new member have yet not understood.

Thanks for sharing.... upped, followed & resteemed.

best regards

You resteem a post that aligns with your vision.
This statement here says it all.

Steemit is like life itself, you get paid for the value you bring to the table.

eheh I actually asked to get a resteem from one of them without expecting anything, it's worth a try right?

you'd think that, but then when you put it into perspective, you see how many people try that. If you jump onto any of the big players page and look down at the transactions in their wallet you'll see how many people ask them to look at their posts.

Excellent way to look at Life itself, whether here on steemit or down the street, or even in your own home. Giving without measure or expectation. Focusing on personal gain is pretty much the surest way to lose in the long-term.

Who cares who the "Whales" are or whether this one or that one is a "minnow" or (good god how small can you get?) a "Plankton"? The way to get the most value from steemit is to give the most value to it, that you are capable of.

Be the best damned plankton possible and growth is inevitable, so why focus on "growth" at all? Focus on the source of growth instead, which is giving, without measure or expectation.

#TeamCanada is catching up man, You better watch out! Good insight, I was told just today actually that someone didn't want to resteem something for me, cuz they felt it messed up the flow of there feed. That was a new one.

i can appreciate that reason. Don't agree with it, but understand it.
