RULES FOR UPVOTE and OTHER HELPFUL HINTS

Welcome to the Peace Abundance and Liberty/Minnow Support Project !!

In the past two months, Steemit has grown tremendously! The PAL server has quickly gone from 5,000 to 15,000 members, which means the number of people trying to use the upvote bot has also increased exponentially.

For this reason, the voting power is being quickly exhausted. To counter this, the moderators are testing closure during certain time periods to better manage the voting power. The upvote bot will randomly be turned off to allow the bot to "sleep" so that voting power can recharge.

While in sleep mode, you may be able to type in the upvote channel, however the vote will not be cast, and you will receive this message:

Shhhhh, minnowsupport is sleeping! NO UPVOTES RIGHT NOW. You will be able to upvote again later, after the bot rests long enough for voting power to return.

There are no specific times or known hours for when the bot will be sleeping. If you see this message, please try back at a later time.

Please do not try to upvote a post in any another channel except for the upvote channel, as you will acquire a warning from the moderators.

If you have an issue with the upvote bot not working as you expect it to, or need assistance with a matter related to voting, please ask a moderator for assistance in the help channel. Please begin with the specific issue you need answered!

Rules for upvote!

Use only the #upvote channel to upvote!

1. Make sure the command is written correctly!!

Type the command -> $upvote "url link"

Make sure your post url link is correct - not taken from a comment! When the bot upvotes successfully, you will see two lines below your post. The top line will verify you are upvoted. The bottom line will give you your cool-down time. This cooldown time is subject to change.

2. Please make sure to check the message for the current cool down!

Voting cool down times will be changing! If you are not sure how long it has been since you last voted, you can find out by using the search function in the top right corner to look up the last time you upvoted. Use from: your name, then the channel, in: upvote. You may also use the upvote feature if the bot is awake. The message will confirm the remainder of your current cooldown time.

3. Make sure to read the message for important notes about timing

If you vote too soon or too late, the bot will tell you this. Please read the reply the bot gives you to make sure the post is upvoted successfully.

There is no set value for payout as it varies based on the bots voting power and several other factors. Please be aware that sometimes the bot response is delayed due to high demand, so you might need to wait for a bit for a response.

Please wait at least 21 minutes after you post before upvoting! The best time to vote is the first day you post, ideally at 30 minutes. Any post older than 6.5 days cannot be upvoted.

4. Each post may only be voted on once by minnowsupport.

If your friend or another person from minnowsupport uses their attempt to upvote your post, you cannot also upvote the same post with the minnowsupport bot. If this occurs, the bot will message you that the post has already been upvoted.

5. If you upvote low quality content, copy paste, plagiarized text/photos, or posts flagged by cheetah or steemcleaner, the moderators may choose to mute your account!

If you are muted by the mods, you lose your upvote privileges until you can prove that your content has improved.

We all work hard to delegate our steem power to the minnowsupport bot and it is being used a lot. We want those votes going to people who are making great contributions to steemit.

Definition of low quality posting

For example, if you are posting a meme, an unoriginal embedded youtube clip or a photograph with few words, this is considered low quality. Other examples include quoting local weather, sports scores or crypto prices without any detailed interpretation, or posting art or graphics without explanation or context.

The upvote bot does not upvote posts from steepshot, dlive, dmania, spin apps, zappl or other low content posting apps. We also do not allow referral links of any kind. We consider this type of content low effort posting and will no longer allow it to be upvoted by the msp bot.

low quality content - work showing little effort and original content

copy/paste - copying an article/photo not created by you and citing a source or link

plagiarism - copying another artist or authors work without source or citation, which leads others to believe it is your own original work.

Please familiarize yourself with these three articles:

Photo Plagiarism: If You Publish An Image, You'd Better Own The License For It

What is acceptable content?

Generally, a post with at least 100 or more words of original content, with photos and quotes that are properly sourced or cited, is considered acceptable proof of work.

While original photos and art work are admired, they should be accompanied by a minimum of 100 words of descriptive text in the form of materials, equipment, technique, conditions, location or a short essay to provide proof of work.

If you quote another author, use unoriginal photo/art or translate lyrics from an unoriginal song, the content needs to be properly cited. The material in quotes, headers, footers and links does not count as part of your original content and word count. Your post should contain at least 70% original material and not be a re-wording of another article or articles.

You may write in your own language. You may also choose to include an english translation in order to reach a larger audience, however the translation does not count as part of the content.

We look at each post individually for value added to the platform, and we will take into account your history of posts over the last month.

We are a networking resource first and foremost.

We are starting to build many communities and channels here on the MSP-PAL server in order to meet other people who participate on the Steemit platform.

PAY ATTENTION!!

Here a few basic guidelines that will help you here as you get started:

If you need help, please go to our #help channel, where the moderators will reply to specific questions or issues. Please remember to be patient, as the moderators are often helping several people at the same time!

READ THE CHANNEL DESCRIPTIONS!
Feel free to explore the many channels and read their descriptions.

Always check the channel description at the top of the page to learn more about what a room is for.

At the top of each page, you can read the channel title and description, where you will see the rules and topic of the channel posted there. Reading the description will often answer most of your questions. If you aren't sure or have a question, feel free to ask! Someone will be around to try to help out.

CHECK OUT THE PINNED MESSAGES!
Feel free to click on the pins, which are located to the upper right hand side of each page after the channel description. Always check pinned posts to learn more about what a room is for. Often there will be additional information, such as helpful posts, resources, rules and guides to help you along the way.

NO STEEMIT POSTS IN MOST CHANNELS!
You can direct people to your blog in DMs or conversation, but we do not link dump in this server, with the exception of the #post-promotion channel. In topic specific rooms that do allow linking, we encourage discussion, not just link pasting. Please try to contribute to the discussion!

If you are caught link dumping in our chat channels (posting links in channels repeatedly without regard to rules), you will be kicked from the server. If you continue to link dump after numerous warnings, you will be banned from the server.

NO VOTE4VOTE or FOLLOW4FOLLOW BEGGING!
Not only is this annoying, it won't help in the long run! Please don't do this in Discord or in the Steemit comments!

USE the BOTS in the CORRECT CHANNELS ONLY!
Upvote posts in #upvote, register in #registration, promo in #post-promotion. If the moderators have to warn you too many times about the rules, they may remove you from the server.

NO PORN, VIOLENCE, OR PERSONAL INSULTS AND ATTACKS!
This server is 13+, and while certain channels can become a little explicit, we do not tolerate violent rhetoric. We do encourage everyone to resolve conflict peacefully and to ask for a moderator if you need help.

Please be kind, polite and patient.

The mods are are here to help everyone. One at a time.

Thank you !!

ty peachy :) hug

excelente y gracias

Minnowsupport is great although I only get to use it about once a week now as it's either unavailable or I'm waiting 30 hours. I suppose it was just a matter of time and I can't complain. Minnow support has helped me a lot over the months.

yes it is a bit harder now tho we have adjusted the shut downs to make it open for at least part of every day. we are implementing a program to get more delegations from people so that we have more voting power, and we are constantly working to ban any scammers. in time we hope to be able to get to a point where the cooldown and vp is stable.

This was pretty helpful to me even! There's stuff written here that I didn't know.

Thank you for the helpful guide. I've been on steemiy a little while but still don't undersrand bots too well... I used the #upvote for the first time.

Thank you

the trick is, the bots are always changing to adjust to the users. always a good idea to give everyone get a good idea of how things work!!

You mean the users over time, change the ecosystem the bot was built for, so the bot needs to be adapted or something?

exact! since MSP created this project/bot, we have gone from 2k users to 15k members trying to access the free upvote. Advanced coding has allowed us to specialize the instructions to make the bot more efficient and inclusive, while also excluding abusers who attempt to game the system. Systems should adapt to the intended purpose rather than users to an inefficient system, dont you agree?

Yea I agree, it sure makes it easier on the users to have a system that is adapting to br more efficient.

Thanks to the coders and the thinkers!

I actually had no idea that Steepshot posts don't qualify for the bot upvote, that's good to know so I don't try to run any of my Steepshot posts through the bot. Thank you for explaining things!

yep its a fairly recent thing, many changes hence the update, as steepshot is becoming more popular. just added zappl as well.

thank you for thanking me!!!

good stuff! i've just recently started using the $upvote and noticed it was sleeping a lot. makes sense with that explosion in users!!! thanks MSP for all you do for so many of us!

you are very welcome!! i want pics from FL!

Ive been trying to figure out registration. I kind of suck at this, untalented to say the least but honestly i really like the way ou guys delegate your project so. Thanks. I hope that i can figure this all out. I wanna work really hard here and dedicate myself to this site as my home for social media and my thoughts. Umm yeah much love.
