The Minnow Support Project Nears 2,000 Members

IT JUST DOESN'T STOP

Over and over, every day, more and more minnows school toward the @minnowsupport project at the PALnet Discord chat. They come in organized droves, with a mission, a vision. These minnows have seen their future at Steemit and are banding together to ensure success of the platform. Quality posts, quality curation, quality teamwork. That’s what it takes to succeed at Steemit, and that’s what these minnows are delivering.

Oh, the confusion at first. Minnows swarming over minnows, bumping into the wrong channels, posting links in random places, tagging “everyone” to come see their articles, then fleeing in sheer terror as nearly two thousand Discord minnows respond with spears and flamethrowers.

WAIT . . . WHAT?

That’s right! You heard correctly. Nearly two thousand members!

How is this even possible?

It’s possible because of the tireless work put in by @aggroed, along with other witnesses @ausbitbank , @teamsteem , @canadian-coconut , @neoxian , @someguy123 , and @theprophet0 . Not to mention our two new moderators, @GMuxx and @ShaneWelker . All of these folks work together to create the most encouraging and uplifiting environment possible for new Steemit users, and for those who may have been at Steemit for a while, but just haven’t gotten the hang of things yet.

Discord has its own learning curve: “How do I register?” “What is Streemian?” “Bots? You have bots? Should someone call pest control?”

But together we get through it, one new minnow at a time. We get them welcomed. Get them registered. Get them the support they need along with a smile, whether it’s a gift of Steem to make sure they're square with Banjo and Minnowsupport (the resident bots,) or technical help composing an attractive post, or a little bit of extra votepower to rescue their quality content from obscurity and get it in front of the masses.

Then something really interesting starts to happen. These minnows start growing. They turn Steemit Blue. They start to gain real views and real rewards on their posts. They start posting about things that draw a crowd. They run contests that get everyone from the entire Steemit community on board to participate. They write tutorials. They make videos. They teach workshops on the Discord channels. And before you know it, we have a full-fledged community gliding through a whole ocean full of minnows, dolphins, and whales, navigating the Steemit waters like every human in the tank was born with fins.

This community is reaching the 2,000-member mark. And here’s the thing—the more minnows we can add to the tank, the more powerful a force we’ll become to help other minnows succeed. The model works. We’re seeing it in action. So I can only encourage those of you here at Steemit who aren’t getting the follower growth you expected, or the views, or the increase in value of your posts—at least check us out at the PALnet @minnowsupport group.
