#whalepower: Breaking Even On Steemit

in #minnowsupport7 years ago (edited)

Steemit is a social platform designed with a difference. Unlike other social media, the moments one spends on steemit are rewardable. People who made it early enough only sit back to count their feats.

Breaking even on steemit requires a lot of sacrifice, ranging from initial amount for reasonable steem token, time, to unrelenting commitment. It requires never say die attitude, refusal to give up, and keep on keeping on mentality.

Many walked away because their first posts could not generate 50cents. They perceived the existence of cabals, cliques, closely knitted groups who run things together and do not care others exist. They feared such environment where the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.
On their honour, they bowed out.

You know we are all made in the image of God, but we possess different potentials. Your ability is different from mine. Some are creative, can be funny and can appeal to people's conscience with their thoughts and imagination. They manifest their thoughts in writings, pictures, and speeches.

Such people can thrive here. Steemit is for them. They succeed easily at their arrival. They are already made people. I have no advice for them. They are steemian self made fellas.

Some others break through because they identify with right people, group and bot. They get upvote, support and approval for doing their best or sometimes, anything.

So newbies, identify with people whom you believe will promote your posts and encourage you. Upvote their work, and go ahead to comment as well to register your presence.

Be patient and do not neglect the days of little beginning. Every greatness has a beginning. Ask @neoxian @papa-pepper @paul-gillbanks @bullionstackers and many others who have caved a niche for themselves on steemit.

For the big fish, you should know that upvoting minnows is a motivational factor to make them stay and work hard.
Remember that no community survived with one class of people. Every community is made up of upper and lower classes, in some cases, middle class as well. Those who are new should be motivated. No matter how small a support is, it is always appreciated.

You guys are helping.

In my next post, I will mention the names of some well-meaning steemians who have always supported me by a way of upvoting my posts. I cannot thank them enough.
Thank you for reading my post.

Keep your good work on.

Can't agree more - The big fish/whales have it in their power to make a huge difference to the community by way of supporting the continual development of excellent content through their support - Let's help support the whales to support the minnows :)

Thanks for your understanding. Thank you for stopping by

I've noticed that many people consider leaving because they feel their content goes vastly unappreciated. After having a few conversations with fellow Steemians who, similarly to me, have just joined this platform I can tell you that most of them do not care that much about the money they get. They would just like to get noticed. I am pretty sure they would value a hundred of $0.05 votes more than $20 just from one guy.

Some of them of course also believe that what they produce is better than most posts here, and they leave because they are unable to comprehend why their posts get 200x lower payouts than those whom they can find on the trending site.

Good expository essay. Keep it up
