It's a loan. MSP specifically deals in delegation so that anyone who is generous enough to help retains full ownership of their Steem Power at all times.

Steemit delegations, by ANYONE to ANYONE recover in seven days. You never lost your steem. You loaned it out. No one ever had it but you. And then you take it back. Easy. Simple. Not the giant, strange deal you are making it out to be.
