Why You Should Not be Jealous &/or Discouraged by other Steemians Success

This post will address two concerns I have been noticing amongst new steemers and steemians who are discouraged about their earnings. These two groups are often inclusive but not always.

Expressing your are jealous of another's success is off putting and ultimately makes you appear like a bitter person. Therefore being jealous isn't doing you any favors and will limit your success on here.

Also, we may not understand another person's success when, oh, we just created a kick ass article ourselves. There are a few reasons you might find it hard to understand why oh why your content isn't being noticed:

  1. You may be using the wrong tags
  2. Your new and don't have much of a reputation in the community yet
  3. Your formatting is off
  • don't use large blocks of text
  • break up topics/paragraphs/ideas with a visual
  1. Your topic doesn't actually contribute to the community. This one is important. Others in this amazing community will notice if your content isn't contributory

There are probably more reasons but, I as a new steemian myself, have recognized the above as reason enough this far. There are other considerations to be made:

  • Those with moderate to whale like success on here likely ARE NOT new users. Go to these peoples accounts. You'll see alot of them have been on here for a year or even a few months. Check our their following. Check out their reputation score (the number in the circle right next to their name)
  • there are of course the rare exceptions, where you will see a pretty much brand new steemian with tremendous success in a short time. You def shouldn't be jealous of that! Good for them! A simple peak at their blogs will probably answer all your questions.
  • You didn't do an introductory post in introduceyourself! Don't worry, I forgot about this too ( had already made like two blogs or something before I did)
  • you didn't read or you skimmed through the FAQ

I personally have read the ENTIRE long FAQ even the sections I already knew. In fact I have read through it more than once. You must read through it! It is imperative you understand what steem is all about

In summary, don't be discouraged or jealous. You can learn from these people who are doing very well. In fact I've learned through personal interactions with some of them that they're ALL very nice people, patient to a fault (if that's possible) ( @timcliff jumps quickly to mind but he's not the only one). The point is expressing jealousy over someone's success is just not productive at all.

And if you're just discouraged, that's okay, but keep it short lived! Learn from other, be contributory in both your comments and posts. You can also just spend some time flat out curating with thoughtful, contributory responses which will aide in letting others get to know you and attain a following!

Thanks so much and also for the resteem :)

Of course, we are all the curators of this beautiful creature we call steem :)

Great tips. Thank you for sharing. I just started and have experienced partially the same.
Reading the FAQ is a big tip !!!! 👍

Yes! And your welcome. Thank you for reading the FAQ. It is pretty long but you really gotta read if at some point. Have a delightful day my friend!

Good advice thanks. I have been here almost a month and haven't made my intro post. Kind of glad I waited because I have learned so much. Steemit is like a whole new world.

I am glad this was able to help you. We all learn from each other after all. :)
Keep on steemin!

This advice is relevant to much more in life then just the stemit community. Nobody should ever be jealous of the success of somebody else. Success comes along with hard work and dedication, and is achievable by anybody. I'm very happy to see the success of other steemit users because it shows us all that it is possible to be successful on here.

Totally true. I'm following you look forward to additional totally true content from you :)

Yes! That is why I like Steemit more and more. Because of people being here. We share ideas, help each other. i like the positive atmosphere which is all around. Well, I am here just for two weeks so may be I was just lucky I have not met any negative stuff. We could obviously criticize to improve our skills, experience. Simply said I love it here. Just regretting the time spent on FB.

I hear that. I wrote another articje called why fb is the pits for this very reason! Following ya

thanks, I am going to check it.

I honestly wasn't expecting such good advice. Thanks for surprising me. The reality we have to live with is that we have to live with reality. We're really not in control of anything but our own responses and our initiatives. You're just not in charge of other people's opinions, words, or actions, and not responsible for them. You are in charge of you, and responsible for what you do.

Another hard earned lesson: if they can take it away from you, it was never really yours.

It is very good that you pointed out that feeling envious or disappointed are motivators to improve our performance. It doesn't matter if the world isn't fair, or that life is nasty, short, and brutish. Those things just are. What does matter is whether you are brutish, or unfair.

Those are things you control, and that you will judge yourself for according to the standards of behaviour you find relevant. If you keep yourself, if you find a way, you will respect yourself at the end of the day.

Good post and reminder. Thanks for posting this and I agree. It is easy for us new people to feel jealous of someone making $1000 on a post. But like you said that is more the exception to the normal and takes time. Like anything else many of these people put in real effort. Building a reputation in the community, creating loyal followers, helping each out, etc. End of the day we just have to do the same and stay committed. Don't let jealousy control you. instead rejoice in other success. Learn from them how you can do the same. :-)

Thanks for the tips!
