AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition SpecssteemCreated with Sketch.

in #mining7 years ago

Yesterday AMD released more information regarding the coming graphic card line Vega that will be AMD's new highend graphic cards compared to the RX400 / RX500 series that's their mid-range cards.

First out will be Radeon Vega Frontier Edition which is aimed towards the professional market and not the gamers out there.

Frontier Edition is designed to do computing for stuff like rendering, machine learning, deep learning and other high intensely computation tasks.

One of the great features of is the use of the HBM2 memory which replaces HBM1 that we saw in the R9 Fury and Fury X that only came with 4GB of VRAM and that was a limitation of HMB1. Now HBM2 can theoretically can do up to 4 stacks of 8GB with the total  32GB on the inperposer .  The Radeon Vega Frontier Edition will come with 16GB and run at around 1.5GH/s memory speed but who knows maybe we will see a 32GB version in the future?

Vega Frontier Edition will come in one air cooled version and one water cooled version

How will this card do for mining? Looking at the specs it will probably do very well but cards like these doesn't come cheap and AMD haven't released any pricing on it yet so price vs performance is something we have to wait for.
