AMD recorded 1.2 billion in revenue during the second quarter of 2017 up 19% from this time last year, Yet cryptocurrency mining is not part of its long term strategy for growth. According to Lisa Su, the firm's president and CEO, she made the remarks at an earnings call for QE2.

Mining is for sure an energy intensive process but its what secures the blockchain so well. i wonder about the future of hardware mining, especially after the remarks from AMDs ceo...

Most likely PoS based systems is the future. People who still want to mine would probably join a pool unless they're hobbyists who like setting up their own stuff.

This statement wont change anything. AMD never focused on mining hardware and it worked well. Now they say they wont change anything about that, so whats the problem? There are several proper solutions for mining that outperform GPU's by far, if you really want to earn money with mining.
