My GPU/HDD Mining Rig is Fully Operational!!!

Hello Steemfam!

Just wanted to share with you that my first mining rig is built! It wasn't really difficult, but the cable management was insane.

I had two goals with this rig:

  1. Make a fully operational GPU/HDD mining rig
  2. Not make it look like complete shit

Specs:

5x EVGA 1060 SC Single Fans (6th one coming soon)
ASUS Prime Z270 Mobo
2x EVGA 750 GQ 750W PSU
Mintcell PCIe Risers
Intel i3 3.7Ghz Processor
240GB M.2 SSD
2x Seagate 8TB External HDDs
Western Digital 2TB External HDD
Windows 10 Creators Edition

Issues that I ran into:

  1. Couldn't get into the BIOS in the beginning - I had the SSD in the wrong M.2 slot..
  2. Windows would crash as soon as I started mining - Upgraded from Windows 10 1511 to Windows 10 1703 (Creators)
  3. GPU fans would not turn on and only 3 cards were recognizable while mining - Had to downgrade NVIDIA drivers tfrom 385.28 to 384.94

That's really all the problems I had with the rig. Everything is up and running just fine now. My goal is to tweak my overclock perfectly and see how stable I can get the rig. Currently I have the rig running around 22.3 MH/s per card since I just implemented BURST (HDD) mining. I was running about 23.8 MH/s stable per card. 24.5 MH/s crashed the system. I'll slowly turn it up and see if we can achieve 23.5-8 again without issue. Once I get the 6th card in I might see about tidying up the cabling a little bit more. Possibly reroute the SATA and VGA connections. I'm not sure how I want to do that though..

Now for the pictures!!
