With that final description I'd have to modify it slightly to mention that the "Cryptocurrency" is not stored or created on the blockchain, oh wait, I guess it is "stored" as your wallet is basically the private and public key pair that determines or references the said blockchain to evaluate how much currency you have from the blockchain. As with "created", I'd say the blockchain has the record of creation, but does not itself created it, the block rewards are what actually creates it that gets recorded on the blockchain.
