Bitcoin Mining Companies: Score or Scam?

My husband and I are ready to jump in the mining train, and we found a company that sounds amazing. But now my question is this: How do we weed out the scams?

We've been looking at Sun Mining Co. (sun-mining.com, an organization in Australia that claims to run its machines on solar power, and the contracts look great. It seems perfect. But how can I know?

How are you mining crypto currency? Who do you trust? I welcome all the insights and advice you have to offer.
