How to mine Cryptocurrencies (and actually make money).steemCreated with Sketch.

Mining cryptocurrencies can often seem to require expensive hardware and a complicated setup process. I'd like to prove otherwise. In fact, it's actually quite simple with a codeanywhere.com container (you'll need to sign up for one). Once you start you can use the SSH terminal to install software – but it's a bit tricky... because the first problem that you'll run into is that you can't install mining software, as their system will pick that up. Here are a few workarounds:

Workaround 1:

  1. Click file > New connection > Container > And in the search bar look for python > Give your container a name and then click create/whatever it is
  2. Right click the container (it's on the left sidebar) and click SSH Terminal. Now type git clone https://github.com/ricmoo/nightminer into the terminal. (If anyone's daunted by the thought of code – I assure you, all you need to do is copy and paste a few lines...)
  3. Enter the command cd nightminer
  4. Sign up for an account on nicehash.com – don't leave the codeanywhere.com tab while you do so.
  5. Type python nightminer.py -o stratum+tcp://scrypt.eu.nicehash.com:3333 -a scrypt -u 37hRUdNPAMe562td4KiHvmcdiQXjfcreE9 -p x (remember to replace 37hRUdNPAMe562td4KiHvmcdiQXjfcreE9 with the bitcoin address that nicehash gave you – find it at https://www.nicehash.com/wallet)
  6. Bear in mind that the containers tend to go to sleep by themselves (unless you buy an upgrade – but that's not going to be profitable).
  7. If you do need to start the miner again open the SSH terminal, then type cd nightminer and finally re-enter python nightminer.py -o stratum+tcp://scrypt.eu.nicehash.com:3333 -a scrypt -u 37hRUdNPAMe562td4KiHvmcdiQXjfcreE9 -p x (and do remember to replace 37hRUdNPAMe562td4KiHvmcdiQXjfcreE9 with the bitcoin address that nicehash gave you – find it at https://www.nicehash.com/wallet)
