There is some buzz online about minergate being a virus and as I mentioned in the article I did have to uninstall antivirus to get Minergate working. I did some poking around in the internets and found this article that explains what it is and how to remove. I personally am comfortable with the risk reward and have not noticed any issues caused by minergate.

Minergate is a free to use online cryptocurrency miner. Its smooth on my windows 7, simple to use and appears to be a full service mining hub. I admire the project as a business and a development project.

How We Got Started:
I had heard bits about Minergate here and there. Always interested in mining and learning more, but discouraged by initial research, people saying its impossible to mine unless you are able to build some stellar rig. So the other night a new steemer, @dobsdies, posted a pic of his rig and i commented. The conversation brought up Minergate. That night while in the haze of a wicked fever i told my son he should download it and check it out.

1. Go to minergate.com.
   Watch out for fake sites like minergate.co.
   

2. Click Downloads
   

3. This page pops up. Minergate determines your system and offers some suggestions. Mine was windows. Note the system requirements.

1. Download: I had to uninstall my anitvirus (bitdefender) to get the minergate install to work. Bitdefender sees some of minergate as a threat and will not allow it to install or run. Next, accept stuff, and it dosent matter what you check for the path dialogue. The installation is fool proof and takes 5 minutes. I chose to have the shortcut icon put on my desktop.
   
   When i click it, this pops up....
   
   You can see how simple and clean it is. I have not experienced any lag or glitches even when it is actively mining.

2. Its so easy. Click start mining if you want the automated smart miner to get some money for you or click miner at the top to choose manually. These are the coins you can choose from :
   

Its really that easy to start accumulating money!

Even though minergate is plug and play, there is plenty to learn for someone like me who generally dosent have a clue about anything and lives in a 2 bedroom with a wife who hates me 3 kids and her parents. What? Did he just say that?

There are mining pools, merged mining, pplns, pps, and cloudmining. So you wont get bored but meanwhile you click startmining as soon as its installed. Genius business model.

My son has a custom built gaming pc that glows and has his name etched on the side.

I have a wallmart thing from 2009.

So he fired his up and started accumulating a bunch of coins fast. I saw dashcoin and mistook it for dash and got pumped. I was thinking by morning he would generate 145 usd. Well it was not dash it was dash coin. By morning he generated .03 cents and i have no idea where to trade dashcoin. So we regrouped and i started mining xmr (monero) on my wallmart: this is what i have now after it mined for most of the day:

Meanwhile my son on his fancy pants computer mined .0016 after about 3 hours which appears to be around 7 cents.

So there you have it. A great middle of the night father son activity. No physical effort required. And we are 7 cents closer to our next million.
