Nobody says it is better than all others, it is just different. The support for anonymous transactions using a public blockchain is the "killer feature" of ZEC that is drawing all the attention and hype... then the high profit for miners kicks in and things start to get crazy.

i just see a lot of ppl talking about it this week and it just exploded in popularity, i read something about it being more private/anon than others? so that's why i wanted to ask/confirm with someone who knows more about crypto than I!

We'll see where all that leads to, but the good thing is that a lot of hashrate is being moved away from other coins to Zcash and this allows for things like Steem being mineable with CPU again...
