Mining at home

Hi Steeminans and Crypto-Experts, today I like to discuss a project I plan to realize.

Which miner to buy??

I read quite a lot about the different miners, the different coins to mine and all the Infos about cloud mining by the different vendors.

As I have solar power at one location, I don't have any costs for the energy a hardware miner will eat. So, my first question is

What is the best combination for a 3k€ budget?

There are so many different combinations and I like to discuss with the Steemit Mining Experts this little project.

Antminer or a Rig with 1070er cards or ??

My first idea was a nice RIG with 4 to 6 GPU cards to mine something like Z-cash or similar. Than I read a bit about the different AntMiner and than there are new cards on the way to the market.

After or even before I choose some hardware, it might be clever to know which coin can be mined with wich hardware.

Me - and I guess a lot more Steemians - is looking for some facts and advice from you.

Let's see if we can get a good combination for the Steemit community.

I second cloud mining, though all of the current options right now are pretty steep in terms of fees. I would love to see a company do an ICO, raise $50M, set up shop and offer dirt cheap fees. Dividend on token holders for % of profit. I know there is one, but it is more of a hotel for your own hardware.

Check out Antminer D3. It is within your budget and it runs X11 algorithm (meaning it can mine Dash, which has a great potential, imho). But be aware that it’s energy-intensive and loud. You should keep it well away from where people are sleeping and resting.

Energy and noise is no issue.

  1. Energy comes from my solar powered roof
  2. There is a 19" rack hidden in my basement. Yes, I'm a bit 🤓 nerdy.

I prefer to cloud mine, but If you really wana do mine at your home. There is one miner who is really profitable but mostly sold out. Maybe you have some luck.
It is the Baikal Miner! Here is the Website where you can buy those: http://www.baikalminer.com
On eBay there are a lot of offers but those prices are crazy! A lot of people buy those somewhereelsee and then sell it on eBay for 4 times more than the buying prices. So keep that in mind if you wanna buy one on eBay.

Btw. with the Baikalminer you can mine Dash!

The new baikalminer is around 3k USD and comes with 2000Mh/s for X11 - sounds interesting and eats only 430 watt - will check the AntMiner D3 against this.

A good question, interested in the answer!

I look into this since a while and don't have a clear answer.

Excellent post thanks for sharing !! @detlev Would you like to follow and upvote me.

If you are considering getting into mining, DON'T.
Buy cryptocurrency instead.
I explained why in this post -
Cryptocurrency Mining is OBSOLETE!

I am looking into Cloud Hash Mining but rather than doing it alone I am looking to collaborating with others.
