Crypto Mining Update!

Well by now you've heard about the waning performance of current generation GPUs as the difficulty levels of the active coins continues to rise.

Although still earning profits, it is definitely time to think about more power.

We have been actively mining UbiQ and Musicoin which are still very decent for coins per day with our rig as we hit 6 GTX 1070 cards going full steam ahead.

We are now setting our sights on a brand new rig built around the new and exciting vega 64 cards which arguably are priced nearly the same as a new GTX 1070 currently.

There is a toss up between whether or not we wait for Nvidia's answer to the vega series or if we just go on now with amd

To give you a reference on the power/performance upgrades compared to a GTX 1070, we are getting 26mh with the 1070s on the ethereum network with spikes as high as 33mh when the overclocking juices up.

The new vega cards that were benchmarked run a clean 38mh stock and we can probably push them into the mid 40s with cooling upgrades and OC.

Expanding the GPU count on the rig was no walk in the park if you are considering setting up your own mining rig.

It took over 3 hrs of troubleshooting which consisted of removing all the usb risers and reinstalling/fenagling them so windows would recognize all of them.

I DO NOT recommend the MSI z170a gaming M5 or m7 motherboards for mining due to their difficulty with interfacing.

We will continue to push the crypto networks further with our mining efforts which have been quite successful so far.

That's all for now, if you have any inquiries questions or comments please leave them below and I will be sure to help you out/ answer you!

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks, im pretty scared to add a 6 the card after that episode!

Will that get too hot?

Not really too hot, the cards we use have pretty crazy cooling on the boards they stay at about 50 degrees celcius each. My concern is mostly getting the thing to run stable

Hi @christheaudioguy Here's some more good news about Musicoin. They just wrapped up a promising pilot program with @theharddata
