Mining Pool - Nanopool, How to Change the Minimum Payment Settings

in #mining6 years ago (edited)

⛏️If you are just starting to mine cryptocurrency you might try Nanopool which offers Ethereum (ETH) with 65k miners! Ethereum Classic (ETC), SiaCoin (SIA), Pascal (PASC), Monero (XMR), Zcash (ZEC), and Electroneum (ETN). I currently mine Ethereum here with occasional Pascal dual mining. I've been pleased with the pool uptime and stability and would definitely try it for other coins in the future. You can mine directly to an exchange or your own wallet. I really like that they offer different locations from Asia, Europe, to East/West U.S.

It's a little discouraging seeing the rather high default minimum payment if you do not have a big set up and are just starting out. For instance Monero's default is 1 XMR. Yikes! However it is very easy to change the default minimum payout on Nanopool all you need is a little patience.

Nanopool's minimums are listed here: https://nanopool.org/
(Note the default is a actually higher than the minimum listed, hence why you need to mine a little while before you can change the settings to the listed minimum).

Waiting and being Patient

After you configure your miner (for example, Ethereum https://eth.nanopool.org/help) start it up and wait for some time - 10 to 15 minutes for higher end GPU's and longer for smaller cards/cpu. It could take a while before stats show up on the dashboard which you access by typing in your wallet address on the coin's page URL like so:
https://eth.nanopool.org/account/yourwalletaddress
or entering your wallet address in the Search box in the upper right.
Just keep refreshing the page or go get a soft drink, coffee, water and come back.

The next part is to wait for your worker rating to be above 10. This does not take very long if you have higher GPU's but could take a few hours if you are cpu mining or have a lower powered gpu.

Example: Monero (XMR) worker rank. This was my laptop cpu mining and took around 3 hours to accumulate a rank. And yes the hashrate reporting is a bit wacky but this laptop does maybe 60 H/s. The hashrate reporting for ETH and PASC actually are close to accurate.

With Nanopool the worker name and your email are very important parts of dashboard/account management so make sure you configure those correctly or else it could become difficult to manage later.

  • Use the same email for everything!
  • Worker names may be changed

After your worker has reached rank 10 you can then change the Settings, located just below the banner heading of the page. Input your email and then change the minimum payout and click "apply." You now have a lower payout minimum.

The last tip I have for you regarding Nanopool is this pool is a wonderful stable pool but you need to be patient when starting and give it at least 6+ hours for the dashboard to be close to accurate. The pool even says so on the account page. I do not think I took it seriously and grew frustrated after a few hours of mining not seeing good results on the dashboard and only realized it was good when I just left it alone for a while. So if waiting bothers you maybe try it before you go to sleep and then wake up and see good results.

I do not work for Nanopool or gain anything from this posting other than I hope I help someone. I will also post about other pools I find that I think are decent.
