That would be nice. It might persuade Bitcoin's developers to adopt an algorithm that isn't environmentally destructive, and/or it would drastically improve the market-share of non-PoW alts.

There's no sense in using the same amount of electricity as a first-world country to power a cryptocurrency, when a cryptocurrency network like Nano's could work on a couple of wind turbine.

I'm glad a powerful country is considering taking such measures.
