I agree with your realization that it is important to have determination in doing things. It seems to me, however, that many people do not quite set out in the right direction in the first place.

In my old dojo there was a saying for kids that went something like this: "It doesn't matter where you go as long as the direction is right".

In this context I would say that, yes it is important and quite difficult to finish things, but before that one should think about if the thing being done is logical/right at all. Such an action requires wisdom and courage.
