Focus for Success - 7 - Success Examples
There is evidence of success all around us. In our personal lives and in the businesses we frequent. Paying attention to this body of evidence helps us to define the one, most important, thing in our own efforts.
This series shows that focus, giving our undivided attention to the most important thing, is what will lead us to success. There are many businesses that have been successful that just started out with one product. Gary Keller identifies a few of these companies in The One Thing*. He uses Starbucks, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Coors as examples. But there are many more, and many with great stories.
Sometimes it is hard to identify the one thing that is most important. A great call out by Kell in The One Thing* is the relationship between movies and related merchandise. Typically the merchandise related to a themed movie makes way more than the movie. But, it is the movie that allows for the merchandise. So, the movie is the most important thing. It is the one thing that is the foundation for the merchandise.
You may be thinking that there must be more to it than focusing on one thing. There are complexities to running a brewery, restaurant chain or making a movie that requires thousands of people. But the bottom line is that they are all focused on the one thing, the beer, the chicken recipe or the themed movie.
In business and in our personal lives, success is all around us. Learning to identify the one thing should be your only job, consuming your daily life.
