Obligations of Society and Our Identity Crisis...

in #mindset6 years ago

Greetings, Steemians!

The human society is governed by a set of rules that give responsibilities to its members. Our approach to these responsibilities will eventually form our identity.

One of the most eminent aspirations for anyone in life is to grow closer to the image of their ideal selves. That longing for idealism is not merely characteristic, since we also form an image of the ideal society in our mind as we experience intellectual growth in the early years of our adolescence.

This growth contributes to our understanding of our responsibilities towards family, community, society, and country.
The obligations of human society are not always in concurrence to our own ideals. In this case, a person has two choices; whether to find a reasonable way to take care of such inconsistencies, or revolt in an attempt to change the fundamental rules of society, and it has often been proved that the latter will fail to give you any results.

The crisis of identity occurs when the obligations of society compels you to walk down a path that contradicts the ideal image of life in your mind. The very first outcome of such crisis is depression and loss of tranquility.

In our impatience for the realization of our dreams, we make way for all sorts of fears and doubts to enter our mind and taint our resolution of what we should actually do with our unavoidable obligations in order to become successful.

That very ideal image that you grow in your mind turns to the opponent that will haunt your every moment, notwithstanding the fact that our sense of idealism should actually be a tool for our ambition and success.

Imagine that you have always dreamt of becoming a writer when you grew up, but society comes in with its shackles of responsibilities and pulls you towards a different path. All you really want to do is write, but your obligations compel you to remain in a safer path for the time being.

What can we do in a situation like this?

This identity crisis is something we all go through at some point in our lifetime. We may feel lost or worse, useless. We may begin to see no point in the continuation of our life, for there is no more a trace of what gave us hope and purpose in the beginning.

I remember a very successful friend of mine who was an entrepreneur tell me something very interesting about the crisis of our identity. He was always intrigued by fascinating ideas and never cared much for an ordinary and reliable job.

‘I once was an accountant working in an office, you know,’ He said to me. ‘But I never saw myself as one.’

Sometimes the place we are is the not the place we want to be, but we have to bear the challenge nonetheless. You may be wearing a particular robe or uniform, but that does not determine who you are.

Have hope, for you will eventually find your way around the obligations of society and realize your dreams!

A BIG HUG!

Good evening friend @chbartist, receive a warm and affectionate greeting.

For me, as a person, who approaches the image of an ideal being, is to approach God Almighty.

You speak of rules that give us responsibilities and, at the same time, grant us rights, which, although it is true, are important and we must fulfill them, so that they coexist in our society, it is also much more true. It is more beneficial to be able to comply with the Rules of God, who will guarantee us an eternal rest once our body ceases to exist and we leave this world.

Throughout life, as you say, we went through different stages, we passed joys, we passed sad, we fell in love, we had children, we had friends, we liked some people and some did not, we had a good or bad job, we had some kind of vice or maybe not, we are good or we are bad, and that set of things is developing our identification as people.

Throughout life, we must understand that we must always work and fight to please our Almighty God, be grateful and fear God, since the one who does not have God in his heart based on what the Bible says will not go to Kingdom of heavens.

As he says "when society forces you to walk a path that contradicts the ideal image of life in your mind," the first thing we enter is depression and the loss of tranquility, but as long as we have God in our hearts, He will guide us , in the right way and will open the doors that we believe are closed.

I really like to read your publications, in these moments of so much misfortune that we are spending in my country, Venezuela, help us to have hope. May God bless you greatly and fill your heart with happiness.

Beautiful words my friend. May you have a 2019 with much happiness and prosperity!

Thank you, my best wishes to you. God bless you

Good morning friend!
We must understand our responsibilities properly and only then will our society improve.

Thank you very much for sharing in all of us.

As hard as it is to go through an identity crisis, I also believe that they are a time of deep personal reflection. It is a time to soul search and offers the opportunity for individual growth. I think we grow the most during the hard times that are filled with uncertainty.

It's really hard to find yourself in the midst of the chaotic world. Differing perspectives and convictions lead one or the other to deviate from its former stand and conform to the things he abhors before.
As an individual, I do believe that we have obligations to society. One has said that you should never forget what the world tells about you. They know what you can do. You may achieve your personal aspirations but deemed unprofitable in society. They say, don't do what makes you comfortable but do what makes you great.

I think particularly that we should do an internal review and follow the path dictated by our soul, that will make us happy, at first you may obey the rules but with a fixed gaze on what you want to do and move forward, never stay in the zone of comfort, make an effort and you will achieve your dreams... merry christmas

Oh you are talking about obligations and responsibilities. Yeah, in some points of our life we all feel the crisis and choose to do what is dominating- our dream or those responsibilities.
For me unfortunately I have to choose the responsibilities. But my dream is beneath my soul. Only it can give me the peace and my true identity.
Your words are giving me courage to go further in my own runs.

This is an interesting concept as many of us are influenced during iur formation years to study something that society deems valuable. Unfortunately, most come to learn too later that their passions are not aligned with their education and preparation which lead to these crisis of the individual. It is important that we choose what passions us to move forward so that it can be genuine.
