¿That is to be a Patient? (ENG)
Very good morning/evening/night to all members of this great community. As they are? I hope well, and if not, don’t worry that they will soon be, remember that "there is no evil that lasts a hundred years, no body that resists it"
Today I would like to talk to you about what "Being a Patient" means from my point of view, but for this I have to define what it is, for this take the concept of the following page : https:///definicion.de/patient/, in order to start giving my personal interpretation. This website states that "The term is often used to name the person who is physically suffering and is therefore under medical care."

Yes, it is a perfectly correct definition, a patient is a person who goes to a health center because he suffers from some complication, pathology or illness. But when we refer to "Being a patient" it involves a little more.
When we say that we or someone is a patient, we mean:
-Someone who is trusting a stranger (in case he is not the family doctor or general practitioner).

- Someone who’s relying on those people’s knowledge to make us feel better.
-Someone who will confess aspects about their life so they can make a diagnosis.

-Someone who’s gonna have to hear the truth straight.
Someone who may need emergency surgery and have to trust the professional at the front.

The best word that exists to define a patient is trust. Trust is not easy and we all know it, but when we’re on the side of the gurney or sitting listening to the questions they ask us, it’s the only word that can come to mind, we’re trusting someone else to get on with our lives. There is a reflection that is very true, the rooms of the hospitals have heard the most sincere prayers and seen the most real tears, that is because people are beings that are afraid of the unknown, there is no greater fear than staying inside the operating room, and knowing that we do not have the control, it disturbs us more, to think that we are in other people’s hands and that we have to trust.
I hope you enjoyed my reflection on what it means to be a patient for me, I would also like to know what it means for you, we all have different perspectives and it would be good to be able to read what you think. With nothing more to say, I bid you farewell and give you a happy start to the week.
