Milk Box Project —Protest poetry — Protest against government corruption!
Now I hold my pen as the pen addict that I am!
Darkness beheld the View - Power supply out!
My mind is provoked
My inner voice is screaming!
Is this the definition of a country with a government?
I would fail my pen if I don't write
I would fail my lips if I don't speak
I would fail my people if I don't develop interest!
What if, if, if, at the end no one sees this?
What if this joins the pile ups of the people's lamentation?
My conscience would never be guilty,
Knowing that my words could be seen by an entire generation.
Let me markdown the pains I feel as a citizen!
We have a voice that speaks but remains dumb!
We definitely want to speak more
Then we turn around and ask,
Will speaking effect a change when we can't be heard?
Voice is said to be powerful
But the power vested on these people is awkwardly more powerful
It weighs down our articulatory organs
It silences our vocal cords
It makes us speechless!
The government is for the people by the people and of the people.
Imagine the best lie of democracy!
The people definitely means the representatives of the people
The ones who walk home with huge funds
Funds their 100th descendants would come to flourish with.
Funds we sow with taxes and reap with poor amenities
Funds we always dream and hope for a touch of its expenditures!
Growing up, The cliche of my age grade leading in the future was a goal to achieve.
But I have come to witness the reign of a predecessor succeeding a successor!
I have witnessed a reign that decides the next reign
I have witnessed a government that influences the votes of the people without intelligent manifestoes
Because the people beg for bread, they are given bread instead of bakeries
The people beg for meat, they are given meats instead of a gun to hunt for meats!
The people do not play in the government!
They are played by the government!
We are the game of the government!
Change the government some proclaim!
We need a change!
Then a change came and it transformed oxygen to air!
It transformed water to liquid!
It transformed evil to the devil!
The change we once cried for has manifested but negatively.
It has used our words against us.
We summoned it and it sent us it's black side.
We hungered for it and it served us toxic meal.
We needed to quench our thirst, it dried off our saliva entirely!
This is what the government has done to us!
They have baked us into uninterested independent citizens.
They project a goal, we do not care anymore!
They demolish a project, we congratulate them.
The pledge, allegiance and anthem are rendered without the zeal to serve the nation.
The youths have lost hope in governance!
Bribery and corruption are the approaches of the government.
Democracy redefined into hypocrisy!
We are now a people of our own business.
We bear the nation's name in social activities.
We only unite when we hear sports.
We become brothers and sisters by religion.
We form a family of cultural sameness.
We fight a war against those with different genetics.
We have totally lost interest!
They say we are not too young to run.
We say we are too young to die early.
We vote what we can see not what we anticipate in the future,
Because others had made us have hope in them yet they betrayed us!
Their manifestoes are songs of impossibilities!
If death is not too much negativity,
I'd like to say the country is dead in government!
