Smedley Butler was a once in a generation warrior, not to be matched until WW2 by LT Murphy. And what makes him all the more impressive was his accomplishments off the field of battle. Absolutely a great man. He was also a communist later in life. Even the best of us are prone to error. But I think if he'd lived to see the results of communism he would have grown beyond that as well.
