KFX/IFX Combat Fighter Indonesia-South Korea Adopts 4 European Technologies

The KFX/IFX fighter jet made in Indonesia - South Korea will be equipped with 4 technologies from Europe. The technology transfer of Europe after America gave its technology to support the new fighter.

"The four technologies will not be given to anyone, including Korea," the head of the Defense Ministry's Research and Development Agency, Anne Kusmayati, told a news conference at the Ministry of Defense on Friday, July 28, 2017. However, Reached South Korea with parties from Europe.

The four main technologies in the fighter are electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, infrared search and track (IRST), electronic optics targeting pod (EOTGP), and Radio Frequency Jammer. Actually, the amount of technology needed is still less 9 again. However, five technologies have been obtained by Korea and in the cooperation reached by Indonesia and South Korea, the five technologies will be distributed to Indonesia.
As for the four technologies, Korea is developing as a result of collaboration with parties in Europe. "Who is the party in Europe, I am not in the capacity to answer it," said Anne.
Later, the four technologies will also be given to Indonesia. "We are allowed to use the tool to us in our IFX plane later, so God willing we will be four," said Anne.

The KFX / IFX fighter jet is a 4.5 generation semi-stealth aircraft developed by South Korea and Indonesia. This aircraft development cooperation is limited to aircraft development until it reaches the prototype. Of the six prototypes to be produced, one prototype will be delivered to Indonesia. Currently the Engineering Manufacture Development (EMD) program has completed 14 percent of overall program planning that lasts until 2026.

The development of this fighter jet was originally done South Korea since 15 years ago. But in 2015 an agreement was made between the South Korean government and Indonesia to develop this joint fighter jet. The strategic cooperation agreement of this program was conducted on December 4, 2015. While the cost sharing agreement was made in January 2016.

Under the agreement, Indonesia bears a development program cost of 20 percent, while South Korea 80 percent.
