My review as a writer

My journey so far in the micro writing challenge was like a roller coaster of emotions. Just when you think you are becoming to get a bit comfortable with a task, then next week comes with a different kind of challenge that you are just encountering for the first time that will drag you out of that comfort zone and make you do some more research in order to have an idea on what to write. But in all, I was happy about the experience and the new things I learned that’s why I try to participate every week in the challenge. @joslud and @solperez really did a tremendous job impacting new knowledge in me.

Reflection of my micro writing journey

Week 1: Beginning the Journey

That was actually the first time ever hearing of the word micro writing. I saw it as a very easy task until I started, I now realize how complicated it was. I kept writing and deleting in order not to exceed the maximum words, yet I still wrote 155 words.

But one thing I learned from that day was how to make every word count. To a large extent, the challenge taught me discipline and focus in my style of writing. I learned to trim my ideas without loosing the essence of the story.

Week 2

Just when I was getting a bit comfortable with the micro writing, a new task emerged. Making a story about being the protagonist, addressing the reader directly as if he was the protagonist and narrating from the third person view. In all this, the main character was an ant.

The micro story that week allowed me to see the world through the ants eyes making it easy to connect with it and formulate my post. That way I could resonate with its struggles. Writing the different stages of the story made me realize that story telling could also be a tool for inspiration and empathy.

Week 3

I was already getting a bit used to the micro writing. So it was a bit easy writing the concise and condensed task but the challenging part was task 2 and 3. A new challenge dragging me out once again from my comfort zone, to write a story using a telegram format and forming a story out of a poem.

Writing the telegram was quite fun because it made me feel like a baby learning how to make sentences but was still able to pass along my message.

Week 4

This week came with a whole new twist. I had to write about my main character in different genres. At some point I ran out of ideas, so I couldn’t complete the task for that week. But when i saw my Netflix series had two sections of my story vacant, I’d to complete the story.

This week task exposed me to trying out new genres that I’ve never explored before in writing. One thing I also tried out during this task was the advice @joslud gave to me, by leaving things unsaid, allowing readers to fill in the gaps with their imagination. I tried to leave my work to be open ended.

Week 5

I will say this was the most challenging task among all of them. I didn’t even complete the second task. I don’t know if I even did it well. But I gave it a try. Writing with Ellipsis seems a little like telegram but a bit complicated. Writing metaphorically had its own challenges especially trying to make two unrelated words have meaning in a story.

Conclusion

The challenge this past few weeks has really been a transformational journey for me in writing. Every task that was introduced stretched my limit and imagination, making me creative. From learning how to condense words to writing different genres of stories that I’ve never written before, I can say that I’ve grown as a writer and I will keep practicing them till I become better at it.

Thanks @joslud and @solperez for taking me through this journey. I really appreciate it.

Thanks boss.. i really appreciate this..

Pasemos ahora a calificarte. Sacaste en esta tarea 1:
