My First Kiss (Entry for Poetry Contest)

My First Kiss

Said our thanks for were done with our dinner,
He then asked me out for a walk;
My heart maybe warm but the night made me shiver.
He holds me close but I wondered why my man won't talk.


After some time he said, “I love you my princess,”
“Butterflies in the stomach” was an understatement;
Right there and then we kiss—‘twas my very first kiss,
Lightning, thundering, heart throbbing to my amazement.


I just let go of him—how can I miss it already,
Emotions and hormones made me cry like crazy;
In panic he cupped my face in his hands entirely,
Then he said, "I love you and I am sorry honey.


"Please, don’t be sorry my half, my love,
Tears poured down for I never felt this secured;
Forever I'll be grateful to our Lord up above,
For you, for us, for that kiss I’ll heartily endure."
