I read the report - clearly that Russian Buk. What was strange was that the report bottled on who was managing and crewing the Buk. It's a bit odd because there is a lot of corroborated evidence on the vehicles and locations but no photos nor anything else on the crew(s). There's one fingering of a Russian intel officer who talked about "his Buk", and that's it.
I'd speculate that the crew handling it inside Ukraine was a rag-tag bunch who were less well trained, and made mistakes. A properly trained crew would have been able to spot the airliner. But this is just speculation on my part.
