Facebook is working on a new feature

Facebook is working on a new feature for its app which will track the amount of time you spend on it daily, called your time on Facebook.....

The new feature was spotted by engineer Jane Manchun Wong who found the code buried in the Android version of the Facebook app.

As a serial code trawler Wong has spotted hidden features like this in the past.

Facebook has since confirmed that the feature is in development.

The social media company gave a statement saying we are always working on new ways to help make sure people's time on Facebook is time well spent.

This feature also has an ability to offer alerts. That means you can set a daily limit and if you reach that amount of time, the app will let you know via your phone's notifications.

Apple and Google have already introduced similar features that let people keep an eye on how much time they're spending using their devices.

Facebook control to another level there is also a way to permanently delete your Facebook account.

Like many others you may have moved away from Facebook since the Cambridge Analytica scandal. But did you know your account might not be deleted?

How to deactivate your Facebook account.

1. Find the arrow shaped menu button in the top right corner of your Facebook homepage after logging into your account.

2. Select the settings option and then scroll down the General Account Settings tab.

3. Select the Deactivate your account which will give you the option to keep your account active or deactivate it.

4. Follow the steps through once you have decided you are ready to take a break from social media.

How to delete your Facebook account:

Before you permanently kill your Facebook presence for good facebook gives you the option to download a copy of your data.

To do this simply click on the Download a copy of your Facebook Data option under the General Account Settings.

The archived file contains all of your Facebook information so if you plan on keeping it just make sure it is stored in a secure location.
