Mexico’s most colorful annual event: "Día de los Muertos" - Day of the Dead is coming...
At first I have to say Día de los Muertos is not a Mexican version of Halloween. Whereas Halloween is a dark night of terror and mischief, Day of the Dead festivities is going in an explosion of color and life-affirming joy. It begins on the evening of Oct. 31 till November 2.
Día de los Muertos is a celebration of life and death celebrated throughout Mexico.
People go to cemeteries to be with the souls of the departed and build private altars containing the favorite foods and beverages, family photos, and a candle for each dead relative. They also put toys, favorite candies for dead children, bottles of tequila for adults. The altars have to welcome spirits back to the realm of the living.
A common symbol of the holiday is the skull which celebrants represent in masks, and foods. Another symbol are Marigolds, the main traditional flowers used to decorate the altar.
How I said Dia de los Muertos is about spread the joy of life into streets and public squares. People have their faces painted to resemble skulls, they wear suits and fancy dresses.
For me, like a European girl it was really great experience to joined parade full of masks (sometimes really scary and savage) going across the streets of our city.

Not sure what should I think of all this tho...Halloween, Day of the Dead etc etc...for me it's All Saints' Day and that's it! :D And Im not even a Christian hah.
hm.. tiež som nevedela, čo od toho čakať, bolo zvláštne, ale určite nie smutné a depresívne, oni celkovo smrť vnímajú úplne inak ako my. A určite si pozri Coco ;)
haha az teraz som pozrel. Kokolookoo :D Najlepsi bol ten tancujuci kostlivec..Skusim si tipnut: vo filme bol on naozaj mrtvy a ostatni ludia boli len pomalovani bo bol "Día de los Muertos"...a to bol jediny den kedy mohol vyjst na ulicu a uzivat si zivot. Ci? :D
Poviem ti to tak.. nesledujem žiadne filmy, seriály(totálna strata času pre mňa), ale toto je z kategórie "3 oriešky pro Pop., Home alone, Dirty dancing a tak"...na konci budeš plakať..fakt! :D
Hmmm...jaaa presne to iste s tou stratou casu. A toto vyzera ze to je presne z tej stata casu kategorie :D Neviem, nebudem klamat, ale zatial si ma nepresvedcila. Pokial to nie je manga/anime ako napr Naruto, tak kreslene veci ma moc nebavia :D
