Fort of San Jose El Alto, one of the best things to do in Campeche
Fuerte San Jose el Alto is located on the northern edge of the town on a cliff overlooking the bay of Campeche.
The fort San Jose, host nowadays an interesting historic museum with reproductions of ships and weapons dating from the colonial times. Its mission is to promote the general history of the state of Campeche, with emphasis on maritime trade and piracy.
It also offers the impressive views of the sea of Campeche and the Natural Protected Area of Los Petenes from the esplanade.
I like how the fort yellow rooftop, the grey stone walls and the bright green grass make interesting contrast in the first photo of my gallery...Do you like it too?
