Hello dear friends of steemit, thank you for being present on my blog and accompanying with reading my post.

Before starting I want to clarify that I am Spanish speaking, I read and write only in Spanish, unfortunately English does not understand or write, all my work I do with the help of the translator google, so I want to apologize for any mistakes that may Arise in translation.

Today I want to talk about the history, the discoveries and the attempts of the robberies of the meteorites of my country. For the accomplishment of this work I am inspired by the professionalism, dedication and the enthusiasm that puts in its works @gavvet. Thank you so much. @gavvet

This post is the first I write of the genre, so I had to inform to perform, I was never good in the matter, for the people who are in my situation prepare this brief introduction of the general aspects of meteorites.

Substances or elements that revolve around the sun or an object in space are called meteoroids, they are substances smaller than an asteroid or a comet.

When disintegrating a meteoroid leaves a light that is called meteor, this word derives from the Greek meteoron, that means phenomenon of the sky.

Substances that reach a planet because it does not disintegrate in the atmosphere are called meteorites.

Meteorites are usually divided into three categories

Stonite meteorite: composed of silicate minerals, in turn these can be chondrite or achondrite

Metallic meteorite: composed of iron-nickel

Rocky-metallic meteorite: a combination of both, composed of metallic and rocky material.

Let's see these images to know the different types of meteorites

The meteorites found are usually called with the name of the place found, in cases where several meteorites are found in the same place a letter or a number after the name is added.

History of meteorites in "Campo del Cielo"
Campo del Cielo is a place of Argentina, is located between the provinces of Chaco and Santiago del Estero, an area that covers 80 kilometers long by 3kilometros wide.

The origin of the name dates back to 4000 years ago. When a group of indigenous people from the province of Chaco witnessed a rain of incandescent rocks, to mark the place where the events happened gave a name to the place in its native language.

In their language guaycurú they called the place with the name of Piguem Nonraltá that means Field of the Sky.

Investigators of this type of phenomena, Guillermo Faivovich and Nicolás Goldberg, confirmed that 4,000 years ago there was a meteor shower that had an impact on the territory of the provinces of Chaco and Santiago del Estero.

An iron asteroid of about 800 tons, when it reached the atmosphere, fell into pieces of meteorites that were spread over an area of 80 kilometers long by 3 kilometers wide.

Meteorites "Mesón de Fierro, the Runa Pocito and the Toba"

To refer to the history of the Inn we must go back to the year 1576, in an expedition guided by Indians of the region and commanded by Hernan Mexia de Miraval, after finding a ferrous stone of approximately between 15 and 20 tons, Mexia de Miraval Such as "Otumpa or Mesón de Fierro".

For two hundred years the material was studied to know where it had come from, whether it was expelled from an underground iron mine or was silver.

In 1783 Lieutenant Miguel Rubin de Celis visited the place with 200 men to verify the theory of the study, a series of excavations were carried out, some of them very close to the meteorite and it was to stop inside a well, by the Difficulties that represented at that time, left him abandoned in the place, by a bad record of the location the "Meson de Fierro" remains missing.

After this fact there were countless expeditions to find the Mesón de Fierro, with negative results, in the constant search of the Inn was found another smaller one of 800 kg, called Runa Pocito, this was given to the King of Spain, but they retained it in The port of Buenos Aires, a part was used for the creation of pistols, is believed to have been for the May revolution occurred in my country.

In 1825 the 634 kg remnant was moved to the City of London, then donated to England and became the first publicly displayed Sky Field meteorite.

At the beginning of the 20th century another meteorite called El Toba of 4210 Kg was discovered.

The meteorite "El Chaco"
In the 60s, in an expedition led by the American scientist William Cassidy and the Argentine geologist Luisa Villar, together with a scientific team revealed new findings of craters and meteorites, there is discovered the meteorite called "El Chaco", the third heaviest World with 28,800 kilos, in 1980 is unearthed by the Argentine Air Force.

The Meteorites The Surprise and The Wichi
The American scientist William Cassidy, in 2005 after 40 years returns to Campo del Cielo with NASA and in collaboration with the ACHA (Chaco Association of Astronomy). They discover the meteorite Called The Surprise of 14.850 Kilos And the meteorite called The Wichi or Santiagueño of 7.850 Kilos.

The "Gancedo meteorite"
Finally in August of 2016, in Field of the Sky very near the locality of Gancedo is discovered the second largest meteorite of the world with 30,800 kilos to which it is called meteorite Gancedo.

With this recent finding my country has two of the largest meteorites in the world, these meteorites are exhibited to the public in the National Park, where the National Meteorite Festival has been held since 2005.

Argentine geologists continue the search for the Mesón de Fierro meteorite, which continues to be lost today, it is very important for our country to find this meteorite, because of the number of stories and legends of the surrounding indigenous peoples.

The history of the meteorites of sky field is not finished, in the constant search of the "Mesón de Fierro" we can arrive to discover even a more important meteorite.

The shameful trades
In the last twenty years the international trade of meteorites has grown steadily, in 2006 a meteorite of 161 kilos was found in our province and was illegally exported to New York and sold at an auction of the company Bonhams for incredible sums.

Another embarrassing fact occurred in the year 1990. When Robert A. Haag known to be a meteorite fighter I traveled to my country with the intention of buying the meteorite "El Chaco", the third largest in the world with a weight of 28,800 kg, in the attempt The businessman Chaqueños participated, luckily this maneuver was unsuccessful and the meteorite returned to its place of origin.

After this fact, the controls were intensified and they recognized Field of the Sky like patrimony of the humanity.

In 2007 the meteorites of Campos del Cielo received a commemoration, made by "El Correo Argentino", the entity issued stamps in sovereign recognition of this heritage.

The same year the Senate of the Nation elaborated a plan of fight against the illegal traffic, declaring to meteoritos Cultural Goods of the Argentine Nation.
