Welcome back to my favourite music...alphabetically.
Favourite Band: Death
Genre: Death Metal with Technical elements
The first Death Metal band ever (there's an argument to be made for Possessed but they are more thrash metal in my mind) remains one of the best, with (nearly) every album remaining a classic, from the furious, fast-paced, raw and zombie-focused Scream Bloody Gore to the technical and impressive Symbolic, the guys at Death (RIP Chuck Schuldiner) were skilled and passionate and offered some of the best death metal out there. Check out: Scream Bloody Gore (1987) and Symbolic (1995).
Favourite Album: Dopesmoker by Sleep
A one song stoner epic, Dopesmoker is Sleep's opus. It trundles along with crushing riffs and slow, fuzzy guitars and is never boring for the whole hour. If you want to start listening to Stoner Doom, this is one of the places to start.
Favourite Song: Decks Dark by Radiohead
My favourite song from my (sometimes) favourite Radiohead album, Decks Dark is all around amazing. Every segment is memorable and Thom Yorke's vocals are still brilliant all these years later. One of Radiohead's best.
