The majority of Bangladesh's workforce is employed within the agricultural sector, in which rice is the principal product.

Production of clothing is the core of Bangladesh's manufacturing sector, which accounts for more than 80 percent of total exports. Although humidity and temperatures are always excessive, recent climatic shifts have led to an increase in the frequency of monsoon rainfalls and cyclones, leading to floods that leave a greater portion of the Bangladesh people landless and unable to plant crops on flood-prone land. About 1 million Forcibly Exiled Myanmar Nationals (FDMN), the majority of whom are young people, fled from extreme violence and oppression in Myanmar and are occupying settlements in the SE region of Bangladesh.6
