Memory is the place to store information. The information here is stored.Memory is mainly of two types.Such as-

  • Main memory/Primary memory

  • Auxiliary memory/Secondary memory

The main memory is again two types-

  • RAM or Random access memory
  • ROM or Read only memory

A memory that has direct connection to the arithmetic logic unit is called primary memory. Primary memory has to be speeded up very fast due to a fast connection to a connected arithmetic logic unit. The information and instructions that are always needed are kept in primary memory. Besides, when the arithmetic logic unit calculates the necessary data and instructions for the calculation, it is temporarily kept in the main memory. After finishing the count, they were again removed in the supporting memory.
There are three types of main memory-

  • Internal
  • External
  • Read- Write memory

Internal memory is in the microprocessor. The Arithmetic Logic Unit first communicates with it. The main external memory is of two types.such as RAM,ROM. This is the number of marks on the motherboard outside the microprocessor. Before any program arrives at Arithmetic Logic Unit,to random access memory or Or read only memory comes in.After completed ALU operation, Comes to random access memory device with internal memory. This is a permanent memory.

  • Secondary memory

Supportive memory is used to expand computer activities.It’s known as external or secondary memory. Supporting memory is essentially the processing results and some necessary programs are stored. It is replaceable and extra space is available in large quantities without any major memory, through supportive memory. Its capacity is much higher than the main memory. Here the data order can be saved only. No process of processing is done on it. Compared to the main memory, it is slow. Computer processing takes place in primary memory and storage work is supported on helpful memory.Magnetic Tape,Floppy disk,Hard disk,Magnetic drum etc are the example of secondary memory. The speed of the arithmetic logic unit is not a direct connection to it, but the speed can not be very low. Supporting memory storage capacity is much higher than the primary memory. Because the information in the near future requires counting of information. Its axis time millisecond.
