Winnie Madikizela Mandela, Nelson Mandelas ex-wife was born on the 26th September 1936 in Bizana, pondoland SouthAfrica.
She was an anti-aparthied activist and a full-fledged politician in South Africa.

Thier love story began in 1957 when she met the anti aparthied activist while she was standing at a bus stop in Soweto. She was 22 years old then, beautifully young and pretty, she fell in love with Nelson just as he stared into her eyes. She agreed on a lunch date with Nelson the following week and gradually thier relationship grew in bond.

They later got married in 1958 and stayed married for 38 years, having two daughters zenani and zindziwa born in 1958 and 1960 respectively. The family remained in strong bond until Mandela was arrested and jailed in 1963.

Ofcourse we all should be familiar with the great story of South Africa's greatest black president, Nelson Mandela who gave his life for the sake of freedom of his people.
Nelson Mandela was an apartheid fighter who sacrificed a big deal to ensure equality between the blacks and the whites in South Africa, he was imprisoned for 27 years in robben island though sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiring to overthrow the state. It was then during this period winnie Mandela rose to fame and prominence.

She became the very face of Nelson Mandela during this period, supported and represented Nelson in every way she could.
During this period she faced a lot of challenges as apartheid fighter and Human Rights activist . she was detained by the apartheid state security services on various occasions tortured, subjected to barning orders, barnished to a rural town spending several months in solitary confinement. Though South African investigations tells us that she might have been in one way or the other related to some ugly actions that brought negations to the country, but then she also had a good side of her which cannot be put out, especially trying to explain the extent of freedom South Africa has achieved in present day in the scene of equality.

She organized local clinics, campaigns for equal rights and was promoted by the ACN as a symbol of thier struggle against apartheid.
Nelson Mandela was released from prison on 11th February 1990 and the couple separated in 1992, thier divorce was finalized in March 1996.
She visited Nelson during his final days.

It's quite unfortunate that great men and women will come and will always go, just like we all know that death is inevitable to everyone, including the greats but what makes the difference is the extent of impact we have made on the coming generations, the sacrifices and positive changes are what defines our legacies and believe it or not, this is what keeps us going forever.
Winnie Mandela passedon during the early hours of Monday 2nd of April 2018, she was aged 81.

For a personality of such a reputation it is almost not reasonable to say she is dead, as her legacies will always live on. Indeed all we can ever say is LIVE ON! GREAT AFRICAN TREASURE.
MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE
