Did Anchorman try to warn us about Fake News?

Anchorman 2 to be more specific..

If you remember the climax of the movie was about Ron Burgundy cuttings a live news feed to a small town "car chase" and the entire world going nuts..

It seemed like the world is getting worse, but really these Main Stream News stations are reporting on every little event that happens in the entire world (that they can use to promote their self interests).

But realistically this has been going on for awhile, and they completely ignore the news that really needs to be reported (like people in poverty).

So I just wanted to share this, because I feel like that movie was trying to tell us something.. and no one listened.

Sort:

Hollywood has a way of mixing the truth in their films. What they do is they mask it as the absurd yet put it in plain sight. I guess they do this so they can claim "we told you so".

Since the story of Ron Burgundy took place during the 1970's, I think they were indicating that this foolishness started back then... the only difference is the level of technology. In 1970's, news was reported at 10pm end of day. Today, news is reported every 30 minutes. . . and Breaking News throughout the day. Same thing as yesteryear, look back 50 years and news was reported in the morning newspaper. The manipulation is Old and Deep.
