MemeLogic - Feeling The Burn?
What's Happening In the World?
I have actually taken a few days off paying much of any attention to what's happening in the world of politics, to focus more on the politics that's taking place here on Steem. Yes, it's very political right now, that's because witnesses decided in secret on a soft fork that will limit the stake Justin Sun acquired in the Steemit purchase.
I'm still very deep in taking into account the perspectives of everyone involved as well as trying to understand what exact action Justin took that made the witness lock his account, rather than first communicate with him. It's only been like 10 days since the news of Steem being sold, and for now I still think it was rather premature to pull that trigger as the witnesses did.

The main issue I have right now, is the over all optics of what this looks like publicly. Brand new Steem investor buy get shut out buy the Steem community, all his sake was ninja mined, but none of those witnesses ever did anything about it. How exactly does that look to new investors or anyone wanting to join the community. The thing is they don't know it in's and out's of Steem, all the see is "Justin Sun Bought Steemit. Steem Moved to Limit His Power". Was there actual sufficient evidence that we could say this was a real threat, not just made up by everyone thinking of the worse case scenario?

The founder's stake has always been a threat of centralization. Heretofore, the witnesses had trusted @ned - say what you will, he did not violate that trust as he could have at any moment and assumed control of governance of Steem at his sole option.
Suddenly that trust no longer applied to Steem, and statements out of the Tron organization indicated existential threat to the consensus witnesses positions of power.
They moved to preserve their power.
I agree it has always been a threat, what I'm questioning is the validity of the Tron/Justin statements being such an impending threat to justify such an aggressive response to a rather influential new stakeholder. Was this threat seriously that credible, or was it maybe hyped up more than it should have been by witnesses fearing the worse case scenario, that being their positions of power?
"It is not power that corrupts but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it." - Aung San Suu Kyi
The current optics look terrible, new owner of Steemit Inc has stake locked by the witnesses, due to trust and uncertainty of new owner's intentions, also because that sake was illegitimately ninja mined by previous owner, which the witnesses have always know about, yet chose to do nothing because they trusted him, but who is also now suspected of legal fraud in the sale of Steemit Inc, who the witnesses now don't trust anymore.
The last one really made me giggle. I think the DNC WILL at least try to 'whack Bernie on the knee'.
So. We really don't have a choice, do we?
In either proposition.
I'm voting Bernie in the upcoming primary. For the second time.
