When You're Tired Of Waiting... Make A Meme About It!

in #meme7 years ago

I was a bit bored earlier and I was thinking how Dragon Age 4 is announced but no release date and it's taking forever, and we've been waiting for it for AGES! (See what I did just there?) And you know what, this meme happened.

Waiting for DA4.jpg

And it's so true. At least with DA4 for, we know there is going to be one. We can't say the same for a new series of Sherlock. But even if there isn't a new one, before, when we knew there would be another and then another, it took years before they came out with a new one.

So basically, replace Dragon Age 4 with whatever you've been waiting for for a long time... We can sympathise in each other's... waiting.

Elder Scrolls VI...
Skyrim came out 7 years ago yesterday!

Still waiting... also a new season of Game of Thrones:)

Hehe I remember when Elder Scrolls came out. I did not play it, but I know people who took two weeks off work just to play it intensely. That IS a long time for a game...

Oh wow. From the comments it seems like the story might have been dropped by the writer. And if you liked the book and are waiting for the story to find its conclusion, oh man. That sucks.

yea a lot of theories about it right now. Those books have a huge following and some people are pretty pissed. At this point I mostly just think it's funny...in a wistful sort of way. I'm still holding out hope ;D

It's strange to me that someone who loves to write a series of books would just stop. Unless it's the people funding the book publishing process. Or maybe he lost inspiration? If it were me, I'd write it, publish it through self publishing, less expensive that way.

I don't think it's the publisher... this is a best-selling series. My money's on the theory that Rothfuss is a hyperperfectionist and is scared that the third book won't do the rest of the series justice. Really wonderful writing in the first two, but you know... without a well written, convincing, and satisfying ending, the whole series is kind of a waste. And there are a LOT of loose ends in the first two books to tie up. Maybe too many. So I think it's just high pressure and he wants to get it right, which is not to say he ever will :/

Perhaps. I know that some writers prefer to write the series and complete it before publishing the first one. That way there is no pressure about loose ends, no expectations, just you and the story. Of course, it can take years before you are ready to publish, but it's a different process, a different mindset and approach. That guy must be feeling all sorts of pressure and worries of disappointing fans. He will inevitably disappoint certain people if he writes out what others want. With a story already completed, it's not a decision of trying to please fans to write the end, either they'll be happy or disappointed, but the ending is the one you wanted. With pressure from all around, maybe he's not sure what the ending he wants is or that is best for his story. It's a shame if that is the case.

I think so too. I hope if he does finish it he's able to stay true to his original vision.

Hopefully ;)
