Steemit Meetup: Blockchain 101

in #meetup6 years ago (edited)
Last night was my first Steemit meetup or should I say first time attending Steemit formal talks with our sifu @bitrocker2020 held at Hotel N.5, Kota Kinabalu, 12th June, 2018 at 7.30 pm.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we (@beverlyjoe, @celo769 and @kilathecla) went straight to first floor where we were asked to register our names and all that. As we entered the small hall that could accomodate about one hundred people, more or less, there were no seat left at the back so we have no option but to go in front row...first class!

Looking around, I saw familiar Steemit blogger faces I've met last month during our Kaamatan Family Gathering were in the same room. #teammalaysia attended the talks were:

Malaysia Steem Ambassador: our Sifu @bitrocker2020 and @danieldoughty.

Sabahan Steemit members: @wilsonkoh @veenang @beverlyjoe @twong @bboyady @melindajamulis @nytrie @kilathecla @celo769 @gelfire and @viverridae

Others were guests and AES members.

Introduction to Steemit

First session, we listened to sifu @bitrocker2020 talks briefly on What is blockchain?, the crytocurrencies current trends and the Steem Blockchain. It's easier for me to understand since I've been on Steemit for more than five months.

In his brief talks @bitrocker2020 introduced to the audience the brains behind the creation of Steemit which is brilliant idea by two innovative minds: Dan Larimar and Ned Scott @ned.
Sifu @bitrocker2020 gave example of some of the succesful Steemit member, can't remember her names but she made an amazing post that been upvoted for more than 17,000 SBD ...Wow!

Others, he explained that Steemit also featured in Bahasa Malaysia and that Steemit is not a scam and this proven by our very own Sabahan team doing charity drive at San Damiano, Kiulu last March 2018 lead by @veenang. He also mentioned about our hardworking university student @superoo7 who is responsible in doing all the programing in #teammalaysia.

He then highlighted that Steemit has a bright potential in Sabah whereby in Sabah alone, we have more than 300 Steemit members. He also highlighted that the total sum of income for Steemian in Malaysia so far is about 1.6 Million!

Introduction to AES

Second session covered by Damian, where he started with the introductions of AES.

He explained that AES is a shortform for ASEAN Exchange System. Its almost similar to Remitano and Luno but its features more briliant and interesting offer than those two. Here some features of AES:

There is a huge interest in crypto currency and yet there is no proper ofgicial endorsed Exchange System to check the ICO background and proper crytocurrency trading system

AES will be the girst self-regulated decentralised Fiat-to-Crytocurrency and Inter-Crytocurrency Exchange for the ASEAN countrie
All ICO going for listing on AES will go through stringent credit and background checks before listing is approved

Two-level security and authentication for user login and account access

Web and App based

Order types supported by AES:
– Market: exchange at current market price
– Limit: exchange at above and below market price
– Margin: Leverage with existing coin or token in account

Asean Future Exchange System (AFES): Long / Short positions allowed

AES is scheduled to be launched on 16 July, 2018. Photo below showed their Road Map.

Good News

At the end of Damian's talks, he informed the audience that those attended the talks will be given 25 AES token. Which is a good news indeed. To make the audience more convince on the new product, Damian introduced his team, Dato' Seri Paduka Utama Diraja Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Ahmad, Chairman & Founder and Mr. Warren English, also the founder & Blockchain Advisor of AES. For more info about AES, please check their website at https://aessignatum.com.

Conclusion

Overall it was so good to meet our fellow Steemians again and finally meet sifu @bitrocker2020 in person. His talks on Steemit were brilliant and easy to understand. I'm glad I attended the talks. Its like a revision on what I've learnt about Steemit. On the AES side, everybody got the chance to own AES F.O.C... who ever said 'nothing is free anymore' should've attended the talks aka meetup last night!
