Steemit Meet up and Philanthropy Initiatives in Borneo

It was really an awesome night tonight. I was invited to join a meetup organized by @chanelcalestus and @melindajamulis. The reason for this meetup is to gather some of the steemians that is already part of teammalaysia however never had the chance to participate on our so many events that was organized in the past.

Of course these situation is expected, we cant expect to have everyone to be available at the same time all the time. So it is nice that when they took charge to organized a meetup, all i have to do now is just show up, and i guess to also be prepared to answer question since they have questions in mind as they are in the process to learn more about steemit.

I've touch on many subject but most importantly , since i am now actively involved in promoting promo-steem along with tag teammalaysia , i shared about what promo steem is all about in which our goal is on promotion of steem and steem blockchain. So there is lots of these area i was touching on. Hopefully @cryptocurator could join us someday.

I also shared with them on the initiatives called @steem-ambassador, and some updates on my application of which i am waiting for the final stamping.

One of the important part is to share with them on @sndbox-alpha initiative to support post that is regarding meetup and philanthropist. Most of them is not aware that there is such thing and i hope from now onward they will improve their posting and do their best in creating such related post.

There was so many areas of topic that was covered within our 3 hours meet up among 16 steemian and most important part is during the question and answer as this gives them chances to ask for more insight and better understanding on steem, steemit and steem blockchain.

Giving Back To The Less Fortunate

Right before we end the meet up, we also conclude on two other things, the date for another meetup to be organized and we conclude to have a meetup during kaamatan (Rice Harvest Festival) month and @melindajamulis volunteer to take the lead in organizing it.

Another key point that was discuss is on TeamMalaysia Sabah to organized a charity event , during our discussion we concluded that Don Bosco Orphanage Home is the place that we wish to be working with. Other than raising fund to get essential things that Don Bosco need. Our aim is to help the orphanage with getting volunteer teachers to help them with their studies especially for kids that is going for the Primary 6 , Form 3 and Form 5 Examination. All these is considered those big exams. If these kids do well in their studies, it will change their life for the better. These activity is volunteered to be led by @beverlyjoe and @veenang.

We wish to also get don bosco on steemit, to teach them to use steemit as an alternative financing mechanism to help themselves through creating content with the help of the children in the home the orphans. This will allow themselves to be self sustain in their daily operational cost, at the same time to help get these children some pocket money.

These idea is on refining stage and i am hoping to see these happen and be successful. Hopefully through steemit, a lot of the operating cost can be borne through steemit platform.

Conclusion

While everyone have learn a lot, i did the same too, i learn on how to improve on our meetup session , getting everyone cozy and relax, it makes the environment to be so much less formal and helps some of them to be braver in throwing question and be more engaging.

Thank you to @veenang and @viverridae for sharing some of your know hows and insights too. On another note, we were suppose to also have a special guest tonight which is @the-alien as he is in the area for holiday, unfortunately he felt under the weather but we hope to catch up him as soon as he gets better. Welcome to land below the wind @the-alien, everyone hope you get better soon.

I am truly happy with tonight meet up, it became more than just a meet up. To come up with a new plan for the next meetup and most importantly and philanthropy initiative that initially wasn't plan for at first place is truly something special.

Most importantly , there is more volunteers that is willing to lead the organizing of meetups and to be part of something bigger than ourselves, an initiatives through steemit to have a meaningful, impactful with real change to those that really need it ; Don Bosco Orphanage Home.

Its amazing, because of steemit , strangers can come together and get ourselves organized to do great things for our community and less fortunate.

The community here is growing not just by numbers , i notice they have also grow in confidence. I am so humbled and proud to be part of them.
