To be selfish is to be alive by oneself. To be selfish is not to relate everything to oneself, but to do everything from oneself is to be scrupulously original.

Yes. I think there are some fine distinctions to be made when talking about selfishness. I'll be meditating upon your words here. I have seen the good in valuing myself. I've seen the bad in being self-centered.

If you are selfish then happiness starts to walk away like everything else in your life as you start craving for more and more and desire clouds your judgement. A thick smog clouds you from seeing true reality.
Another great excerpt @jamesallen! :)

I feel overly selfish of late.

It is not completely wrong to be selfish @jamesallen sir, Sometimes you have to look out for yourself and your own needs, that does not mean you are a bad person it just makes you human. It is good to try and help others, but bad when you put yourself at risk to do so.

Yes. I think the word selfish and selfishness need to be further refined to express this idea. It is more nuanced than it might appear.

That so True !! Being sorry is the highest act of selfishness, seeing value only after discarding it.

Interesting. A great thought for meditating upon.

"Willing to give up"

Erm, do you have any idea how hard that is to do sometimes? :(

Yes. It is amazing how hard we can cling to some things that we identify with. It is also so empowering when we come to value who we are without them.

Yup, take the example of Andrew Carnegie from past, and now Bill Gates and Buffet and many more. Earn and give away it wisely, that is happiness.

A thing we all aspire to I think.

nice post like always, thanks for sharing
