What is Blockchain Technology
Ever heard about bitcoin? The new digital gold a.k.a cryptocurrency that currently hype to almost USD 5,000 from year 2019. The technology that drives bitcoin is blockchain technology, it allow us to have a unique, secure and decentralized data (without middleman). In a simple manner, it doesn’t allow “copy-paste data” without authorization of data owner.
Blockchain Technology and healthcare
Modern healthcare is all about data, privacy, and authenticity. Doctors uses data from clinical trials and studies as their evidence during diagnosis and prescribing medicine to their patients. Large amount of efforts are used previously to authenticate the data but however there are still profit driven research or mislead research used by pharmaceutical companies.
By incorporating blockchain technology into healthcare, here are few potential area that can be explore:
1. Clinical trials data:
A trustable, unmodified able patient’s data can be obtain and avoid fraudulently. The results of a quality and unbiased research or trial will set the gold-standard of treatment which reflect the real patient when using the drugs.
2.Drug track & trace:
The genuine drug can be obtained by passing down supply chain data from the manufacturer toward the end-user. This will solve the global issue of counterfeit medicines.
3.Patient’s health data:
Patient can choose to which health organization that he wants to expose his personal health data in Electronic Health Records (EHRs). This can avoid patient data out leaked. By setting up some method or rules, the patient can choose how to, when to or who to give their health data.

I think we should understand the relevance of blockchain technology today. Blockchain is still in its infancy. It is complex, expensive and has some scalability and interoperability issues but it has the potential to benefit everyone.
There are many benefits of Blockchain in healthcare. It can potentially help healthcare develop faster and facilitate its services, making them more patient-oriented, secure, and decentralized. Blockchain technology and healthcare go together well.
