To learn or not to learn - a poem about learning languages

To learn or not to learn, that is the question
Whether it is better to learn
A language none has heard of
Or to take up your books
And learn a common one. To klingon, to spanish--
No more headache--and by no more headache I mean
Banish conjugation which brings a thousand shocks to
The mind and spirit. Perchance to banish conjugation
Ay, there's the rub, for in banishing conjugation
We would only invite another, different, enemy to our shores
For in klingon we do find a strange and curious beast
And this must give us pause.

Shall we then cast off this burden of language learning
And spend our days without the words of the world
But unburdened by the long labours of study.
But what is a life if not lived.
Are we simply to live out our days in quiet comfort

Or shall we attack the day and take it for all it is worth
We shall not go meekly
We shall ready ourselves with pen, mind and will
And we shall venture forth into the land of words
For in that place, shall we find life
