In this german article there is an analysis of why newspapers often have similar terms and topics. This phenomenon is caused by the influence of news agencies and the lack of time of journalists to do own research:

Honestly, I believe nearly everything that really matters is lied about on the 'news.' If they told the truth about everything, we'd have civil war by morning!
But we have to see how it works and why so many really believe what they write as journalists and read as believers...
