I noticed that the media, Wikipedia, and other sources keep referring to the former Kanye West with his prior name.

Both his socially preferred name and his legal name are now "Ye".

It seems really rude to me to keep using his old name. I don't know if to him it's a "dead name", but perhaps so, and in case case why should that matter?

I suspect the same people who are using his old name wouldn't do that for someone who changed their name along with a change of gender, or who changed their pronouns.

If there is some good reason for this, besides just refusing to comply because it seems inconvenient, what is it?

Surely if the media can manage the move from "Twitter" to "X", they can handle Ye's new name.
