I just discovered a new content platform called Publish0x.
Its approach to the media industry is very different, as users... get paid for doing stuff on it!
They don't have to pay, it is the platform that sends them money.
That is true.
And I am not only speaking of the authors, who could get a well-deserved reward for their work. I'm speaking of readers too, who get rewarded for reading articles and sharing them.

Before exploring in details the way Publish0x works, I find it interesting to investigate this trends that seems to be stronger every year: people empowerment and behavioral rewards.

BEHAVIORAL REWARDS

You maybe remember it, it began a few years ago.
Some people started watching advertising and where paid for that. Yes, some people willingly watched advertising (that most of us try to avoid going to the bathroom or doing something else) to earn a few bucks.

Brands quickly took advantage of that and rewarded the mayor of their shops with various advantages (free drinks, coupons...) as a reconnaissance of their involvement with the brand.

Loyalty programs are evolving in the same direction, rewarding all kind of behavior from consumer towards brands.

URP, as an example, created a bunch of ways for brands to incentive people acting in a special way.
People can allow the brand to access their personal data (date of birth, geography, hobbies, incomes...). They can go to a special shop to perform a specific action (discover a product, etc). They may have to share content or advertising to friends... Read newsletters... And of course, buy products.
All these actions are tracked and rewarded when executed, with money or gifts.

Other projects are focusing on advertising and data: people accept sharing information about them, to be highly targeted by brands, and receive money in exchange for this information.

In crypto, we all know the airdrops and bounties.

They are a modern way to make people do things (join communities, share information, produce content, refer people...) in exchange for a reward.
Although in crypto the reward sometimes is only a useless token :)

As we can see, years ago, brands tried to make us do things without telling us.
It didn't work that much.
