Hello there, it's another opportunity to write about these cool dapps that reside at Stateofthedapps. There's a lot of cool things popping over there and you should really stroll down there and see for yourself.

Today I'll be talking about one of my favorite means of accessing steemit and though i haven't been very active with the app, I'm still super grateful for those mystery upvotes that always popped up in my post every time I used Esteem. There's been serious development and I'm glad I could be a part of this.

Back then, esteem only had a mobile app, though it was simple and at times glitchy, it made steemit fun and easy to access. I'd make posts, comment and use the dapp for basic steemit stuff. You could upload photos but gifs didn't work. There's been a lot of improvement and I'd like to applaud @good-karma and everyone who has worked on the project. Here are some of the improvements that have taken place since then

ESTEEM SURFER

Lets start from the top and work our way down or is it the other way around? Anyways, Esteem surfer was created some months after the mobile app was made. The app has been through a lot of improvement to get to the point we are in today and it is still being improved. Here are some features of the Esteem surfer.

Password protected: Because esteem acknowledges the importance of user privacy, the surfer is equipped with a password that protects your logged in account from being tampered.
Multi-Login Capability: Esteem is the first dapp I know of that gives its users the ability to log in to multiple accounts and manage them efficiently. Steemit users with multiple accounts/aliases have the ability to easily switch between multiple accounts and manage their activities.

Using Your Wallet: Esteem grants users easy access to their wallet and gives you the entire steemit experience via the cool app. Something I like about the wallet was the fact that you can change the currency you view the estimated value of your account with the current transfer rate of your own country's currency. It gives users from all over the world a peculiar sense of belonging that isn't found on any other dapp I know of. This can be done by clicking on the "settings" button on the top right of the screen, between the "write new post" and Notification button.

Simple Interface: The surfer also has a simple user-friendly interface. Navigating through the platform retains the typical steemit.com look but has additional features, like the "discover and token exchange" links.

Token Exchange: esteem is also equipped with a live bittrex token exchange portal for users with the proclivity to trade steem for bitcoin and other currencies.

Discover feature connects you prominent steemians from all over the world.
Feed: To filter the kind of information that is displayed on your timeline
The ability to toggle between normal view and night mode
receive up to date notifications

ESTEEM MOBILE

Well let me start by saying it wasn't always this good and this is testament to how esteem has evolved. When I started using the platform on my android phone, there was no version for IOS but it pleases me to say that there is now a super cool app for Android and one for Apple phones(IOS). I use an Android phone, so i'll talk about that version.

Security Feature: In the distant past, the mobile version didn't have this security feature, I protected mine using the local app locker in my phone but that feature has been included and users of esteem can protect their account and assets with a secret 4-digit pin

Pretty User Interface: The Interface has had a lot of improvement from the older model but it retained the coolness factor that made it Esteem. It retained its cool blue look and then added extra features like the "popular" field amongst others

Multi-login Feature: The Multi login feature is one of the coolest part of using esteem. Using your mobile, you can also log in to multiple steemit accounts and manage them with ease

Other Features

easy access to wallet and you make transactions using your 4-digit pin
Private messaging feature that will be released later

GENERAL BENEFITS

Synchronize Your Steemit Adventure :One cool feature about using esteem is the fact that you can synchronize your work between your laptop/personal computer and your mobile phone. That way you never have to miss a moment.

Scheduled Post: With esteem mobile app and surfer, you can compose a post and instruct the app on when you would like your post to be published.

Juicy Upvote: One very cool feature about using esteem is the upvote that comes from @good-karma for using the app.

SUMMARY:

There's really not much to add. Esteem is one of the most popular ways of accessing the steemit blockchain and has many cool features and that's why it holds a high position among the dapps on stateofthedapps ranking.

All I can add is that perhaps the security feature of reducing the stress of logging into one's account has been simplified by using the secret 4-digit pin, It would be better if a more secure means was added; perhaps including fingerprint, eyescanner or some simple two-way authenticator.
